Design work

I thought it would be fun to post some of the 'behind the scenes' design work that becomes the inspiration for many of my guitar back inlays.

At the moment most drawings start of quite randomly, and then I try and pick up on an idea and develop it. Very improvised, rather like playing jazz!

After I've got a few ideas pencilled out I photocopy them and start arranging them on a full scale outline to get a sense of the overall design. When I've got something I like and the client is happy with, the real work begins. Below are some of the drawings that went into my most recent 'Kandinsky-inspired mk2' guitar.
